HAIYA CELEBRATES HIS FIRST YEAR AT FAM
Football Association of Malawi President, Fleetwood Haiya, celebrated his first year as the Association's President since defeating Walter Nyamilandu Manda in 2023 in a colourful event held at Bingu International Convention Center in Lilongwe on Friday night.
The event was held under the theme "Reflecting 365 Days of Football Transformation" where top government officials including Minister of Youth and Sports, Uchizi Vunga and other stakeholders in sports were present.
Speaking after the event, Haiya thanked the affiliates who trusted him to lead the Association up to 2027, Sponsors for the events, cups and many things at the Association and also Football fans who pay their money to grace matches in different stadia.
He has however described the year as full of mix bag but many things were fulfilled.
"Many look at how Flames has performed. Indeed we struggled mostly in the first games we played, we lost four games in the AFCON Qualifiers and
after changing the technical panel, we won one and drew the other so we hope in 2025, we will do better." He said.
Haiya was known to the Malawian Football when he took a huge transformation of FCB Nyasa Big Bullets under Nyasa Manufacturing company before taking the position of presidency at Super League of Malawi in 2022 then at FAM in 2023.
